Part 6 of Our HOB RD VPN Video Series: Today It Is About Single Sign On with Kerberos

Posted by Sabrina Sturm Fri, 15 Feb 2013 08:42:00 GMT

The unique and valuable features of HOB RD VPN continue in this week’s video series. Single Sign-On with Kerberos allows a user to log on only once with personal access data. All subsequent authentications are then made automatically—still with strong security.

After a user has logged on, the personal access data is forwarded to the Key Distribution Center (KDC). The KDC assigns a Ticket Granting Ticket (TGT) in order to request further tickets for subsequent log-ons. HOB RD VPN receives the appropriate ticket from the KDC for the corresponding application. This allows users to authenticate themselves more conveniently and efficiently.

The benefits of this feature of HOB RD VPN include:

  • Increased productivity
  • Fewer requests to the IT desk, which in turn lowers costs
  • Only one log-on required
  • No additional passwords are sent over the network
  • Encrypted user names
  • Easier system management
  • More security

Tune in next week to our video series for yet another feature of HOB RD VPN!
