Interview with CEO Klaus Brandstaetter about the RSA Conference 2012

Mr. Brandstaetter, many thanks for your time. As CEO of HOB GmbH & Co. KG, you surely have a lot of work. We are pleased you found the time to tell us about the happenings at the RSA Conference in San Francisco last week.

You were in San Francisco yourself, so which impressions did you take home? Was there something you found particularly fascinating?

The flight to San Francisco was very exhausting, but it was definitely worth it! I was able to meet lots of very interesting people and to, of course, critically analyze the competition. Additionally, I had many informative conversations that opened my eyes for new aspects and views. You can tell by the number of booths there, that IT security is becoming more and more important. But also the number of visitors was enormous - the interest in this topic is surely there. It makes me happy, since it is a positive outcome for HOB – especially since we attach great importance to the security of our software products. The presentations of all the experts, contributing their points of view on the topic or doing live demonstrations, were very impressive to me. It seemed very authentic and practice-oriented.

HOB has also presented their new product, HOB RD VPN, for safe access to centrally stored company data and applications: What reactions did the visitors display?

First of all, you are a little bit nervous when presenting a new product: did you do everything right, does the live demo work and, most of all, how do the (potential) customers react? I felt extremely happy to find out that there was an enormous interest in HOB RD VPN to be found. This software suite allows, now with many new functions, for comfortable, flexible and secure access to a company’s resources. So you can now – in the spirit of cloud computing – easily  design mobile work stations. The customers were extremely interested, without exception, and asked a lot of questions. In the end, one could definitely feel the enthusiasm on the side of the visitors, primarily because the solution is so simple to understand and has many new functions already implemented.

How content are you in general with the performance of HOB at this year’s RSA Conference?

All in all, I am very pleased. We went to San Francisco with a large delegation and every single staff member did a great job to contribute their part to this remarkable success. The atmosphere at the booth was great: you could tell that all staff members know the software by heart and are happy to show the product to the visitors. This feeling was shared by our visitors, too. Overall, even though the analysis of this year’s RSA Conference is not completely finished yet, I am already more than satisfied with the outcome.

Your flagship product, HOB RD VPN, was able to instantly win two of the most desired Security Industry’s Global Excellence Awards for IT security. How do you feel about that?

This is just overwhelming, if you put it like that, it is the icing on the cake. The annually presented Security Industry´s Global Excellence Awards in a few categories are pretty much sought after. This becomes clear when checking the nominated companies. This year, HOB was even able to receive an award in two categories (“Access “and “IPsec/SSL/VPN“). If you take a look at the quality of our competition, you can see that it was not easy, but eventually we made it. Of course, this further ensures our customers of the great quality and security they can achieve with our products. So they can be relaxed and do not have to live in permanent fear for their data. With the awards, this security is therefore additionally ensured by a third party.

Again, many thanks you for your time.
